WHAT DO WE DO
Founded in 1834, Galashiels Town Band is continuing a successful rebuilding of a strong community band.
Our regeneration began in 2011, with the launch of our Youth Band. Due to their successes and popularity, other bands were created to help provide tuition to even more of the community.
Our Youth and Junior bands regularly compete in competitions locally, nationally and even internationally!! A group of our youngsters helped to form the Scottish Borders Youth Brass Band which competed at Ostend in Belgium at the European Championships.
The Senior Band meets on a Tuesday from 19:30-21:30
The Youth Band meets on a Tuesday from 18:30-19:30
The Junior Band meets on a Monday from 17:00-18:00
The Beginners Band meets on a Monday from 16:00-17:00
Affiliated with the Scottish Borders Brass Band Association and the Scottish Brass Band Association, we play at a number of events around the Borders throughout the year.
We are funded by concert takings, fees from engagements and charitable donations with additional project support from Creative Scotland.
Instruction, membership and loan of instruments are all free.
